- SAS Sharman Cup here we come- 2 down, 1 to go!!!Premiers grind Jaguars out to guarantee Sharman Cup final placeRichmond pulled off an emphatic 42 to 22 victory over a determined Pakuranga Jaguars team. The visitors were the first to blow there trumpets with two tries to take an early lead in the opening 10 minutes. Centre Niuvao Taka pulled off one of his trademark run away tries to put the Bulldogs on the score board. A Rob Va'ai half back created hole gifted a try under the post to loose forward & work-a-holic Karl Semiti. Back at his consistent best was full back Meke Unasa scoring a double before the half time hooter taking the home side to a 18 to 16 lead. With the loss of Nogo Watch with a rib injury after 15 minutes of play meant that the Richmond forward pack had to reshuffle and allow for hard man Moses Robertson to play prop/2nd row. Winger turned prop, Caine Nahu played an important part in the front row and was very determined in defence showing his wealth of experience to the rest of the team in tight contests. At the break completing sets and trusting each others defence were calls made by co-coaches Ricky Henry & John Teina as they believed the visiting team had a wealth of the ball possession. The rev and 'gee' up by the captain gave the home side the boost it needed to take the field in the second spell. It was the Bulldogs who came out with guns blazing as the halves combination of Matthew Kennedy and Va'ai stormed the troops around the field, to allow for Kennedy a try under the posts. Hookers, John Mana & Santos Taurua carved the Jaguars middle men up off the back of strong hit ups from the forward pack. Warriors under 20s second rower Sione Lousi was outstanding in defence and his offloading was valuable for his outside backs Cale Baker & Corey Teina. Lousi too bagged a try after supporting replacement centre Wendell Schaumkel’s break. Courageous support play from Corey Teina and Brad Watkins allowed for plenty of razzle dazzle and gave the home support of over 200 something to cheer about. Final score 42 to 22, the Bulldogs. The Bulldogs will play the Manurewa Marlins at Mt Smart stadium, Saturday 20th September - 12.45pm kickoff. So bring along with you everything Blue and Maroon, your vocals cos you know the team appreciate your support and cheer on your team in there campaign bid for the SAS Sharman Cup Trophy final. - Tausinga to the rescuePremier 1st pull off emphatic win to advance to Major Semi-final in Sharman CupPlaying at Blockhouse Bay 3 was never going to be an easy task. It took a last minute centre support play that saw Doug Tausinga score the match winning try in over time to secure a victory. Loose forward and captain, Jess Bourke was at his usual outstanding best and managed to score 2 of his teams tries. Prop Quincy Ikifana was at his devastating best lifting the forward momentum against a much enthused Vikings team. The 42-39 win lifts the Sharman Cup Premier 1st team to another away Major semi-final game against the Manurewa Marlins home ground Leabank Park 1, 12.45pm Premier GRADE Howick to play Manurewa at Paparoa Park, 2.30pm.

- Bite Em TokesTeam of Champions - Richmond TokesSat 23 Aug, the Richmond Tokes beat the Otahuhu Senior A Reserves 38 - 10 to meet the Manukau Aiga in the Premier 2nd Pennant final. The South Auckland team would have felt rather confident after beating the popular Otahuhu Tongans 28 - 12 in there major semi-final. However, it was the family orientated Richmond Tokelauns who dominated much of this topsy turvey game and won the Grand Final nail clincher 22 - 16. Prop forward Sam Simona was a stand out despite a nose bleed and it was the flamboyant backs that produced the razzle dazzle that got the team through much of this match. A huge crowd support at Cornwall park ensured this was a game to be remembered for a long time! Congratulations went to the Richmond Tokes from the Richmond management: under 20s, USO's, Aliis and the entire Senior Management Committee.

- 1 down, 2 to go!Bulldogs dog fight out important play-off winRichmond succumbed to a 26-6 deficit in the opening 15 minutes to the Ellerslie eagles. Opening try from centre Niuvao Taka allowed Richmond to take the lead in the opening exchanges of this Sharman cup play-off. However, forced handling errors and a successive roll on from the visiting side allowed them to take an early lead. We all know that rugby league is an 80 minute game and so with the early points mounted on the young doggies side re-grouped under the post and won a favourable turn over deep in the Eagles half. Much of the first half was dominated by the home side who took the lead 28-26. The start of the second half began like it did the previous weekend with the Bulldogs stretching out its players on attack and dominating on defence. Final score 48-26. Half back and captain Rob Va'ai and stand off Matthew Kennedy were outstanding leading the team around for centre Niuvao's hatrick. Return from injury Meke Unasa was also a stand out in full back and was supported well by wingers Corey Teina and Brad Watkins. This coming weekend the Premiers have a bye but will play the winner of the Bay Roskil Vikings vs Pakuranga Jaguars game. Where the other semi-finalist are Howick who are awaiting the winner of the Manurewa Marlins vs Ponsonby Ponies.

- Prems 1st kick on from last weekPrems first lead by Captain CourageousRichmond shot off to an early lead thanks to a scrum play effort from the Premier first captain Jess Bourke-Jackson. Against a large Mangere East mob there was Great go forward from props Quincy Ikifana and Jarred Semiti. Cornelius Talagi was endlessly working hard from the second row and combined with the teams discipline allowed for a lot of expansive play from young guns Lemont Lafaele, Henry Chang-Ting and work horse Doug Tausinga. Richmond dominated for much of this match and with a few consolation tries to the Hawks the hunger of the Bulldog win never faded. Final score 30-20 to Richmond. Richmond take on Bay Roskill at Blockhouse bay park this coming Saturday at 12.45pm - be sure to be there in support as the boys look to advance to the Major semi-final with our crowd support. - Richmond dominate in true formRichmond send message to Sharman competitorsRichmond showed a dominate performance against a hapless Ellerslie Eagles team short of motivation, drive and rugby league pressence. The home team trained hard this week after last weekends disappointing loss to the 2nd place Howick Hornets at Paparoa Park. Ricky Henry and John Teina had instructed a well structured game plan all season and it was with the return of senior players and a well drilled halves combinations that enabled the Bulldogs to a 68- 0 victory at Grey Lynn park. Matthew Kennedy and Rob Va'ai found gapping holes outwide to put both 2nd rowers Moses Robinson and Sione Lousi (2 tries). The back three of young gun Henry Chang-Ting, Corey Teina, Meli Koliavu and Brad Watkins were outstanding in returning the ball and racing away with length of the field tries. Vae Kalolo and Tere Strickland were at there vicious best after having pulled out of last weekends encounter through injury. Forwards player of the day went to Moses Robinson and Backs player of the day Corey Teina. The Premier grade unexpectedly play Ellerslie Eagles at Grey Lynn park, 2.30pm kick off. - Bulldogs top tableRichmond put up good effort for home crowd!Richmond have defeated the Mangere East Hawks 24-12 at home. The Bulldogs had a near perfect and dominant first half from the forward momentum of 2nd rower Moses Robinson and prop forward Nogo Watch. However, it was the individual efforts of centre Niuvao Taka that got the breaks the home side needed. Breaking out to an 18 nil lead Richmond set up for a stellar 2nd Half, instead Richmond went to sleep. Ill discipline and handling errors with Winger Meli Koliavu dropping 7 tries. Mangere East scored 12 points with Richmond only scoring once in 2nd half. The team will need an 80 minute for next weekends encounter against the Howick Hornets at Paparoa Park. In Premier 1st action, the Richmond Premier 1st grade team went down to Mangere East 32-16.
