Richmond Premiers go missing

Playing at the Howick Hornets home ground Paparoa park is no easy feat. Described as the toughest enounter the Premier boys will face in 2009 it was definitely a smart style of rugby league played by the home side. According to Richmond the Hornets premier team very much deserved to win. As usual outstanding football was played from Richmond's gun centre player Niuvao Taka. Congratulations also to Niuvao Taka who is also a member of the Auckland Premier representative squad for 2009. The loss gives Richmond another hope of making the SAS Sharman Cup grand final as they now will face the Glenora Bears at Birkenhead Memorial in the Maori TV televised game. Get out to the game and support the Premier boys!

A tough season none the less the Richmond 20s performed very well for much of the season. Congratulations to 20s half back Chris Perenara on his inclusion in the Auckland under 18s team where he has also been named captain and Good luck to the 20s boys involved with St Pauls college First 13 in there bid for another NZ National secondary schools championship. - This weekend at Richmond

Auckland Rugby League Play offs begin this weekend

Richmond under 20s punished the Manurewa Marlins 62 to 0 at Grey Lynn Park. A great attitude to training this week helped prepare the young Bulldogs side for the must win game. Richmond is placed 5th on point’s difference alongside Mangere who share equal competition points. A Round 15 bye would have enabled Richmond to remain in the top 4 but because of cancellations of games the 2 bye points were not awarded. None the less Richmond came out with a hiss and a roar and maintained this for the entire 80 minutes. The right side centre wing combination PJ Fa’amausili and Kepaoa Kepaoa were in devastating form as they each bagged a number of tries (7) between each other. Kepaoa racing out for four tries off the back of tough defence. Halves pairing Marcus Taniue and Ronnie David performed well together and were gifted good position from the forward pack. Second rowers Tavita Sovea and Max Strickland led the chargers for the forwards and were keenly backed up by Juner Uale and Paki Alesi. A big game this weekend for the Richmond 20s as they take on Otahuhu Leopards at Grey Lynn Park, 12.45pm kick off.
