USO's go down in Final

Richmond’s USO team went agonisingly short of topping the Pukekohe Pythons 28 – 20 at Mt Smart stadium #2. In a stellar 2009 season the USO’s team no doubt have played extremely well throughout the season and represented the Richmond club with pride and passion. The USO boys and their management can hold their heads up high as they have proven year in, year out that they are a formiddable force. Have been and will be for a number of years in the Auckland rugby league competition.

Young guns show up Ponies in final

Congratulations to the Richmond Bulldogs under 18s on a successful grand final victory over the city rival Ponsonby Ponies 54 to 18 in their Auckland Rugby league Pennant grand final. A large vocal Richmond crowd attended the Richmond Tokes final and remained at the game to support the young guns of the Richmond club. Richmond hit out to a great start with dominating runs from the front and were well linked out wide with expansive running.

Of note Marcel Ikinofo was in outstanding form in which he sunk the Ponies ship with a break up the mid field to score under the post leaving three would be Ponies tacklers in his wake. This was a day no doubt for the dominating Bulldogs forward pack lead strongly by their captain Emmet Watch and returning prop forward Sheldon Brown. The second rowers worked well with there halves and combined well with the front row. Coach George would be highly satisfied in keeping the Ponies team 3 - 0 for the 2009 season as throughout the year they have had some good rivalry’s built up from game one. Again, a huge congratulations from the Richmond club and supporters on a fine win. Bite em Bulldogs!

Tokes bring home the bacon

Richmond Tokes have taken out the Auckland Rugby league Premier 2nd Pennant final 32 to 14 over the Hibiscus Coast Pareremoremo team. The Richmond team played at Mt Smart stadium #2 in a much highly anticipated game. The Tokes boys came through with a solid performance to take down the Premier 2nd Pennant final for a second year running. Up front the forwards dominated with strong surges by Sam Simona and Gallway Alefaio. Followed through out wide with gun utility Mafola Timaloa with his patented bustling runs.

The Toke's team celebrated well in to the evening at their Tokes social fundraiser which was a good event held at the Richmond club rooms. Congrats to the team and their management on another year long success. Bite em Bulldogs!

- Premier 1st grade report

1st go down in final

On Friday 4th September the Richmond Bulldogs Premier 1st team painfully went down to the Glenora Bears 24-8 at Mt Smart stadium #2. Strong runs from the 'big boys' upfront Gerhard Sundborn, Ray Fa'afo and Dave Falefitu allowed plenty of exciting action for halves brother pairing, Scalabrini and Akuila Vetenibua. With some unruly referee decisions that saw Ray Fa'aofo leave the field for 10 minutes and consecutive penalties the West Auckland based Bears team took on the 12 man side and remained in control for much of the second half.

Despite the loss the Premier 1st team can be proud of there efforts and achievements made throughout the 2009 season. A big Richmond crowd attended the Friday night fixture and were not let down by the determination and heart displayed in the Blue and Maroon jersey. Bite Em Bulldogs!
