- Wet weather win for Premier 1st

PREMIER 1ST VERSUS PAKURANGA

Saturday 15th May played Pakuranga at Grey Lynn Park, after last week’s 12 man win we were hoping to field a 17 strong man squad to up our game. By kick off we had 17 players, but right on kick off we had a mini storm, rain, hail, wind and this lasted for 20 minutes. After that rain the field was flooded so look like it was going to be a low scoring game and who ever holds the ball will control the game. We started well scoring 5 tries to led 36-0 at half time. Our forwards dominated from the start again especially Nogo Watch making meters up the middle along with Kennedy which made our halves job Blake Freeman to feed our outside men Arden Mccarthy & Andrew Kake to score wide. We managed to score 5 tries in the second half but Pakuranga scored 4 tries so we let our guard down which we must work on at training. We won 64-24 which was a good score considering the weather the boys had to play in.

- Win for 'Dirty dozen'

Bulldogs take it down with 12
Saturday 8th May we played our 1st game of the Sharman Cup against East Coast Bays at their home grounds. We had 16 at Thursday night training also 3 players were ask to cover for seniors due to a few were late withdrawals. We managed to borrow 2 players from the Senior A Ali’is. We travelled to East Coast Bays ready to play but only had 12 players hoping that others were running late, this was not the case. Gareth opened the scoring with try in the corner we led 12-10 at half time and still with 12 men. With East Coasts Bays having 17 players they still found it hard to cross the goal line because of our 12 man compress defence which was led by Alipa Solmona (premier coach). Our forward pack played 80 minutes with Charlie Robertson, Kennedy, Josh Aulika and Stan Bourke. Our defence was sound thru out the whole game and it was a deserved win and a great win and the score was 32-22 to the mighty bulldogs. Way to go "Dirty Dozen"........."ALL DAY DOGGIES".

Prems 1st Bull-props take out Roosters at home

The Premier First Richmond Bullogs played the visiting Te Atatu Roosters at the Dog pound -Grey Lynn park. We managed to get 17 players on the field which included 8 props. We started slow again as Te Atatu went in to the half time break 6 nil up. Our
halves Blake Freeman and Bronson Harden rallied our forwards up the middle and with live wire hooker Ronnie David picking his runs at dummy half we were making yards up the mid field. Resulting in two tries being scored, to Sam Hughes and Taz Johassen. Both conversions were made successful by Blake Freeman.

We were up 18 - 16 with 15 mins to go with four props on the bench. We emptied the bench having all props on the field with Charlie Robertson, Ivala Va'aelua and Moala. Te Atatu hit our line two times but all the boys defended well especially our second rowers Paul Mcauslin, Sean Poimafisi and Jesse Bourke. Te Atatu struggled up the mid field and went wide throwing away an intercept pass to Blake Freeman who ran 95 meters to score in the corner and converted to sealed the win.

The forwards took the next kick off set back in to the Roosters half and within 25 meters to the goal line gun half Blake kicked a drop goal which put Richmond ahead resulting in the 25 - 16 to the Bulldogs. A fitting home game win for the 2010 season!
Big ups to the bench rotation who worked endlessly in our favor, hopefully we get some backs in the next two weeks.

- Premier 1st report

Prems 1st go down against Lions

Premier 1st Bulldogs played their third game of the season against long time arch inner city rival Mt Albert at Fowls park. With outside back Nio Strickland called into Topside for the injured Meke Unasa our seventeen players were mainly Forwards with 4 props on the bench. We started well with fill in hooker Joel Mcgreal scooping from dummy half and scoring under the posts lead 6-nil within the 1st 10mins. but then we lost our way for the rest of the game.
We lost Brett Elvira who transferred from Northcote with a broken ankle had to get a bench prop out to play 2nd row and pushed out halve Bronson Harden push to centre. From there it seemed we started losing our shape in defence as Mt Albert scored 36 unanswered points. There were signs of solid defence and hard running which was done by Under 20 and up-and-coming Junior Warrior, Sheldon Brown.
The game was called off early in to the second half one of our ‘meter eaters’ Josh Aulika who suffered a severe neck injury. The ambulance turned up 30mins later and Josh was taken to A&E. Peter Ah Kuoi confirmed that Josh was released the same night and walked out on his own after being cleared by Doctors, We all hope he has a quick recovery. So the Final score was 36-6 to Mt Albert .
